I really do know the most interesting people! I got to have lunch yesterday with a good friend who is the daughter of missionaries that served in Zimbabwe. (flag of Zimbabwe, pictured) She herself has a campus ministry at a Pgh university along with her husband. But she is still very passionate about Zimbabwe. She was able to return to the land where she was raised on a mission trip in December. Right now she is very concerned about the people because it is election time, a time known for unrest.
Another friend is so invested in clean water for Honduras that he has researched water filters extensively, and has made connections all over the world with scientists and inventors who are making strides in mass producing these filters. He and his wife went to a water conference last weekend at the Convention Center, and when they were perusing the displays, they saw his own picture on the front cover of one of the water filter brochures!
My mother never fails to fascinate me. At 77, she took line dancing lessons this winter, along with working on 3 quilts for 3 grandchildren. She can run circles around me.
My cousin who has 3 children, is going to adopt a fourth from Ethiopia. She has always danced to the beat of her own drummer with often spell-binding results. There are areas where she is absolutely fearless and I admire her greatly.
Some of the most fascinating people (to me) that I know are my children. Josh is a great conversationalist. He is able to convince me and most people he talks to that he is an expert on whatever subject he is discussing. Bethany pours herself into many worthwhile endeavors, including the Tap project, the goal of which is providing clean water for the citizens of the world. She has such a good heart and amazes me daily. Jeremy has networked his way into some very high profile situations, and the stories he relates about these experiences are novel-worthy!
Fascinating people sure make life very colorful. So glad they are in my life!
