Whitehall Mission Moments

So this year at Whitehall camp I was asked to be the speaker for the three women's missions conferences. They were held in the chapel, which is the old one room school house on the campmeeting grounds. Now don't think I am anything special; my mother had submitted my name to the mission committee several years ago, I think after I spoke at a Methodist women's retreat. So, if you desire to do some public speaking, get your mom to be your agent :)
The fact that they asked me this year was kind of exciting and providential, I think, since I went on a mission trip to Honduras this year! This gave me two days worth of material, I felt. (each session was to be one hour and fifteen minutes long......a lot of time to fill)
I got a very neat confirmation in May or June when I saw on the Whitehall website that the youth speaker was to be a guy by the name of Donnie Allen, who just happens to be the National Leader of the Church of God in HONDURAS.
The Church of God is planning a mission trip to Honduras in February of 2009, so I got an opportunity to plug that trip to the group.
As I said, I had two days of material on my trip.......what was I going to speak about on the third day?
I felt through prayer and devotion time God leading me to talk about LOCAL MISSIONS and what we do to impact the world we touch daily.
After walking the grounds of that camp for over 35 years, being behind the podium gave me a whole new vantage point from which to view Whitehall!
It was scary to be raw with all these women, but I left with a good feeling that I had done what God required of me.
