King

Last night I was so torn.......I wanted to glue myself to election results, but it was Tuesday, so that meant Kids Club. I was to give the lesson. I had this thought for a lesson running around in my brain for awhile so I decided to go with it.
I talked to the kids about election day. They were pretty well educated about it, knew who was running, and they all had their opinions as to who should win. They had held mock elections at school (Obama won there, too). I had them vote on a couple of things, like, which should we have to eat, pizza or hot dogs? They got the gist with just a few votes.
I then segued into royalty, kings and queens, and talked about the Queen of England and her crown. Meanwhile, I was passing out craft supplies for them to make their own crown decorated with "jewels". I ended with, the most important vote you will ever make in your lifetime is to decide who will be King of your Heart. Will it be Jesus?
This election season I have focused so much on the here and now when in reality the eternal should always be where our eyes are fixed. The Kids Club lesson was as much for me as it was for them.

Sounds like a lesson that more than just children could benefit from. :)
