Prayer Works

If you did not see Bethany's latest post about our prayer time at Children's Hospital this week, check out her blog: www.bethanygrubbs.blogspot.com.
An experience like this really puts a lot of things in perspective. The father of Camryn (the 18 month old girl we prayed for) remarked that the time of prayer we had was worth more than ten masses. He felt that way because it was RAW, REAL, AND PERSONAL. He felt that way because so much is at stake.
The son of a friend of mine from my youth group in high school was in a very bad car accident a few years ago. Mitch had not had his driver's license very long before he went a little too fast on a curvy back road. As a result, Mitch had a brain injury, in a coma, was on life support....things did not look good. My friend and his wife were told that Mitch may not make it through the night. As word spread around their community in eastern Pennsylvania, people began to trickle into the parking lot at York Memorial Hospital, and these people began a prayer vigil for Mitch. They called on the God of Heaven to raise up this young man out of that hospital bed.
The Great Physician did such a complete healing that Mitch was able to fulfill his dream of being an exchange student to Europe the following school year. Today, Mitch is a student athelete (he's on the football team!) at a Midwestern college.
Will God answer in the same way for Camryn? I don't know. I DO know He is able and He is sovereign, and He has called us to pray. Prayer works.
