"Let's get this mess cleaned up and get ready for Easter!" ~that is an actual quote from my cousin when she was about 9 years old on Christmas Day many moons ago! We all as teens (she was one of the younger ones) found it hysterical and have repeated it every Christmas Day since.
I have definitely had that "day after Christmas" feel, when the decorations start to look a little shabby and the shine is beginning to dull on the tinsel. Not to mention the disastrous state that the house is in from the merry-making on the Yuletide. Yesterday Josh got immediately up from the table and loaded the dishwasher. What a sweetheart. That is the joy of having older children. So, you would think the kitchen would be clean today....but of course the eating didn't stop at dinner! Therefore the sink is still loaded with dishes and you hear the crush of crumbs underfoot when walking around the room.
It has been my practice for about the last ten years to go to work the day after Christmas. It is to GET AWAY FROM THE MESS and also to not hear everyone say, "there is nothing to eat around here." So, this morning, after hitting the snooze button a few times, I headed over to Cranberry and put in a pretty full day at my desk.
I will now be off of work for the next week, so let the Christmas festivities resume. I had my little break, and can re-enter the world of celebration. JOY TO THE WORLD!
