Malaria Meds and Blessings

Sunday I slipped out of my church early to rush over to First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown for a blessing and commissioning of all the workers going to Honduras. It is a two week trip, and there are maybe six or eight people going for both weeks; ten more going for just the first week and close to twenty of us going the second week. FPCB's interim pastor, Paul Becker, had an interesting way of introducing the Mission Team to the church. He did it during the children's sermon. He called all the kids forward to sit on the front steps in the sanctuary (gives new meaning to "Sitting at the feet of Jesus") and had one of the veteran team members answer questions that would interest the kids and also be informative to them about this trip. Then he called the rest of us forward and introduced us all to the children and the congregation. Finally, he had the church people rise and stretch their hands toward us as he offered a blessing for us all.
While there, I saw old friends who slipped me a card that turned out to have $50 in it toward my trip. It is humbling yet awe-inspiring to have people just hand me money because they believe in this mission and trust that I am meant to go.
Tonight I went to Giant Eagle to pick up my malaria medicine that I must start to take on Friday. The monetary gift I got on Sunday covered the price of the drug. God's timing and provision are amazing.
