For Mother's Day, I got a gazebo type structure made out of wrought iron with a canvas roof. Have you seen something like this at Target or Home Depot or Lowe's? My idea was to create a covered place to eat outdoors, without the expense of a roof on our deck. So, yesterday was construction day of the new "gazebo", on our deck. It covers only part of the deck, so more than half of our deck will still be exposed to full sunlight. Everyone in the family got involved. Josh was the engineer, reading the directions and giving orders (he is soooooo good at that). Jon was his main worker bee, with Bethany and Jeremy filling in when more hands were needed. There is a lantern that hangs from the middle with a candle in it, and Beth put all that together. The surprising part Jeremy played was "la decorator".....he suggested placement of furniture and accents to make it cozy and appealing to the eye. When completed, I was outvoted about placing the table under the canopied area. The guys all wanted deck chairs, including a lounge, to be under cover, and they brought my kitchen tv (along with the cable running thru the kitchen and living room) outside. There they sat and watched the Pirate game, and when I went to bed last night, Josh was still out there watching a movie, covered in a blanket. I forgot to mention there are mosquito nets that can either be tied at the corners, or spread along the sides and zipped up. Because you can make it a cozy cocoon, Josh was considering sleeping out there. It's like we added another room on to the house!
