If you see a head spinning in the north Pittsburgh area, that would be mine.
I got an email yesterday that Wensen got a VISA. No, not a credit card, a legal document giving him the privilege of coming to the USA to visit.
If you don't remember from an earlier post, Wensen is one of the translators I met while in Honduras in January.
Wensen is studying to be a pastor, is around 22, is passionate about Jesus and really wants to visit the US.
So, I had been elected to be the liaison for him getting a VISA. The whole process scared me a little, I mean, it's all so official and whatnot. It's serious stuff when you say you will be responsible for a person returning to their native land when their VISA runs out.
The funny thing about Wensen's email was ~ he emailed on Wednesday to say he is coming on Saturday so can you please get me the money asap?
This might be why I woke up with a migraine at 4 am.
How do you get together $1,000 and get it to Latin America in 2 days?
I have been on the phone with Wensen, Emma (head of many mission programs in Honduras), and a travel company in Tegucagulpa.
Oh and to add another wrinkle to the whole thing: did you read about the plane skidding off the runway in Teguc a few months ago? (I told you it's a very tricky landing at that airport!!) As a result, Wensen cannot fly out of Teguc because the airport is closed; he has to fly out of San Pedro Sula, which is much futher away. He then lands in San Salvador, then on to Miami; from Miami to Charlotte, and Charlotte to Pittsburgh.
Yes, my head is spinning!
