Honduras!

In just a month, Bethany and I are headed to La Vila San Francisco, Honduras, on a medical mission trip.
I am so excited that Beth is going with me this year. It makes the trip 100 times more joyful for me to anticipate.
There are 23 families that are supported by people in this community all year long. A lot of what Bethany and I will be doing while in Honduras is work with the families. We have been assigned to interact with the children while their mothers are being educated in things like personal hygiene, parenting skills, self esteem, safe cooking methods, etc.
One of the ideas we have come up with is to tell the story of The Legend of the Candy Cane. It is a good visual that will hopefully tell them a lot about Jesus. I was able to purchase 200 mini candy canes for $2.00 this week! Another way we will reach them is through the Wordless Book, you know, the salvation message as told through colors. We figured colors are universal, and colors are one thing I do remember from my Spanish classes back in high school!
We will also hold a junior Olympic challenge to get some of their energy out. I will be visiting the dollar store for little medals or trophies.
Of course we will have an interpreter with us. I am hoping that we can snag Melissa, a young girl of 18 who was with us last year. Melissa is studying at University to be a doctor. But she loves the Lord and has a very sweet spirit. Melissa and I have kept in touch over the year since I have been to Honduras. She sends me the kindest messages via text messages.
One interpreter that we may not have with us this year is Wensen. Wensen emailed me this week to say he has an opportunity to study in Texas, to prepare to go to AFRICA to evangelize! It is his heart's desire to go to Africa to tell about Jesus. I hope he gets to do that.
Meanwhile, if you have any creative ideas as to what we can do with sixty plus kids please share!
And say a prayer for safety and blessing and all that will go on during our two week mission trip, Feb 12-26.

I'll be praying for you guys (and especially for the airline to NOT lose your luggage this year!) :)
