And so it begins

Last night was the first evening of Bible school. Our theme is "Champions for Jesus" and we are decorated all in black and gold, using lots of Pirate, Penguin, and Steeler memorabilia. How timely are we?? Our area is still on the high of the Penguins' recent Stanley Cup Championship....and the first night, last night, highlighted the Penguins!
The Bible story was Joshua and the walls of Jericho. The theme was OBEDIENCE....listening to the person in charge. Again, what a great tie-in to the Penguins, who changed coaches when their season was on a downward slide, only to rise to the very top when they got a new coach. By LISTENING to his plan, they were able to be champions. Goosebumps from the awesome parallel to life with Jesus at the helm.
I am heading up the music portion, and I tried to drive this point home during the music time as well. It was fun to talk about and celebrate the Stanley Cup, but even more fun and meaningful to talk about and celebrate our Savior.
My nephew purchased a replica Stanley Cup (it's a big blow up thing) and he generously allowed me to take it last night. The kids enjoyed hoisting it over their heads a la Sid. Pictured, little Hunter with the cup. :)
