How fun was that to see our beloved Penguins hoist the Stanley Cup and skate around with it at the Joe?
Ok, Ok, again I am a bandwagon fan, but this year, I really think the love for the Pens and hockey got in my blood.
I work with what I will call the "hockey dudes". They are a bunch of die-hard Penguin fans, who also have been on local teams over the years that played at ungodly hours like 11pm on a Wed when they had to be at work by 7am on a Thurs. They talk hockey non-stop year-round so it is a wonder they didn't completely turn me off to the sport! But through osmosis, I have gotten to know the names and terms associated with our team and hockey in general.
This year I started watching the Pens in earnest during the playoffs, and I now feel I am on the verge of being obsessed. I don't know what it is about me and spectator sports, but a few years ago I started to watch every NFL game that was on tv. Jon is so bored with my obsession. Then I started to follow college basketball pretty religiously, not just Pitt. OK, with basketball it was mostly the Big East. Now this.
Last night I was rewarded when I saw Sidney kiss and hoist that Stanley Cup and skate around the Red Wings' home ice. And it didn't hurt the celebration for Bethany to set off fireworks in our driveway with Levi, Jon and I as spectators!
I have a feeling we are going to be pumped by the Pens for some time to come. City of Champions!!

I'm married to a Canadian, whcih means he's an automatic hockey dude, so hockey is mandatory in this house. I didn't much watch it before now, either.
